This public air raid shelter was built beneath the playground at Clifford Road Primary School in Ipswich during the first three months of the World War Two and provided protection for 200 people. It comprises 13 sections of tunnel, each with its own access stairs, and classes of pupils at the school were each allocated a specific entrance. The shelter was sealed up after the war, only to be rediscovered during the digging of a pond in 1989. The shelter is now open as a museum depicting life during World War Two.
